Tóm tắt
Hedging là kỹ thuật diễn đạt thận trọng — không phải vì người viết thiếu tự tin, mà vì văn phong học thuật đòi hỏi sự chính xác và khiêm tốn tri thức (epistemic humility).
| Loại hedging | Ví dụ |
|---|---|
| Modal verbs | may, might, could, would |
| Verbs thận trọng | tends to, appears to, seems to, suggests |
| Adverbs | generally, often, typically, largely |
| Cấu trúc impersonal | It can be argued that, It is widely believed that |
| Giới hạn phạm vi | in many cases, under certain conditions, to some extent |
So sánh:
- ❌ "Social media destroys family relationships." (quá tuyệt đối)
- ✅ "Social media can have a negative impact on family relationships in some cases."
