|---|---|---|
| Mạnh / Chắc chắn | I strongly believe, I am convinced that, I have no doubt that | Dùng khi bạn chắc chắn về quan điểm |
| Trung bình | In my opinion, From my point of view, As far as I'm concerned | Trang trọng hơn "I think" |
| Nhẹ / Thận trọng | I would say, It seems to me that, I tend to think that | Mềm hơn "I think" — hữu ích khi không chắc |
| Cá nhân hóa | Personally, I believe... / For me, ... | Thêm góc nhìn cá nhân |
Tại sao "I think" lặp lại làm yếu câu trả lời
❌ "I think people should exercise more. I think the government can help. I think schools should teach this. I think it's very important. I think we need to act now."
✅ "People should definitely exercise more. In my opinion, the government has a responsibility to create policies that make this easier. From my point of view, schools are actually the best starting point, since habits formed early tend to last a lifetime. I would say this is one of the most pressing public health issues of our time."
Vấn đề 2: "I think" ở đầu MỌI câu — mất tính tự nhiên
NHÓM 1: Phrases trang trọng trung bình (thay "I think" trực tiếp)
IN MY OPINION / IN MY VIEW
In my opinion, [S + V]
In my view, [S + V]
- In my opinion, governments should prioritise investment in public education over defence spending.
- In my view, the rise of social media has had a largely negative effect on how young people perceive themselves.
"In my opinion" và "In my view" đứng đầu câu, theo sau là dấu phẩy. Không cần thêm "I think" sau đó. ❌ "In my opinion, I think..." (lặp — bỏ "I think") ✅ "In my opinion, ..." (đủ rồi)
FROM MY POINT OF VIEW / FROM MY PERSPECTIVE
- From my point of view, the most important factor is access — not motivation.
- From my perspective, the issue is not about technology itself but how we use it.
AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED
- As far as I'm concerned, working from home is simply more productive for most people.
- As far as I'm concerned, stricter environmental laws are not just desirable — they're essential.
I STRONGLY BELIEVE / I FIRMLY BELIEVE
Dùng khi bạn muốn thể hiện quan điểm dứt khoát, đặc biệt trong phần tranh luận hay câu hỏi về giá trị:
I strongly believe (that) [S + V]
I firmly believe (that) [S + V]
- I strongly believe that access to education is a fundamental human right, not a privilege.
- I firmly believe that no government policy can succeed without addressing root causes of poverty.
I AM CONVINCED THAT
Ngụ ý bạn đã suy nghĩ kỹ và đưa ra kết luận — phù hợp cho câu trả lời Part 3 phức tạp:
- I am convinced that urban planning is one of the most critical issues facing governments in the coming decades.
- I am convinced that early childhood education has a far greater impact than people realise.
I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT
Diễn đạt sự chắc chắn tuyệt đối — dùng tiết kiệm, chỉ khi quan điểm thực sự rõ ràng:
- I have no doubt that technology will continue to transform the workplace — the only question is how quickly.
I WOULD SAY (THAT)
I would say (that) [S + V]
I'd say [S + V]
- I would say the biggest challenge facing young people today is probably job insecurity.
- I'd say that most people underestimate how much their daily habits affect their long-term health.
"I would say" / "I'd say" — phổ biến, tự nhiên, phù hợp cả Part 1 lẫn Part 3.
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT
- It seems to me that people are increasingly prioritising experiences over material possessions.
- It seems to me that the education system hasn't kept pace with changes in the job market.
I TEND TO THINK THAT
- I tend to think that smaller class sizes lead to better educational outcomes, though I know the research is mixed.
- I tend to think that people learn more from failure than from success.
NHÓM 4: Cá nhân hóa (bắt đầu bằng "Personally" hoặc "For me")
PERSONALLY, I BELIEVE / PERSONALLY, I THINK
"Personally" thêm sắc thái cá nhân trước quan điểm — và thay "I think" bằng "I believe" tạo sự đa dạng:
- Personally, I believe that the relationship between mental health and physical activity is underappreciated.
- Personally, I think the pressure on students has become completely unsustainable.
FOR ME, ...
Không cần thêm "think" hay "believe" — "For me" đã đủ để giới thiệu quan điểm cá nhân:
- For me, the most rewarding part of travelling is meeting local people rather than visiting tourist attractions.
- For me, the defining issue of this generation is climate change — everything else is secondary.
HONESTLY, / FRANKLY, ...
Nghe rất tự nhiên và conversational — phù hợp Part 1 và Part 2:
- Honestly, I find it quite hard to stay motivated when working from home.
- Frankly, I think most people care more about salary than job satisfaction, even if they say otherwise.
I think" hay "In my opinion":
❌ "I think exercise is important. I think it helps people mentally. I think it also helps physically."
✅ "Exercise is fundamentally important — both mentally and physically. In fact, research consistently shows that regular physical activity reduces rates of anxiety and depression, sometimes as effectively as medication. For this reason, I believe governments should do far more to make sport and exercise accessible to everyone."

Lỗi thường gặp
Lỗi 1: Lặp "I think" ở đầu mọi câu
- ❌ "I think cities are better. I think there are more jobs. I think young people prefer cities. I think the countryside is boring."
- ✅ "Cities generally offer more opportunities for young people. In my opinion, the job market is simply far more diverse in urban areas. For me, the access to culture and nightlife is also a significant draw — though I'd admit it seems to me that many people underestimate how stressful city life can be."
Lỗi 2: "In my opinion, I think..."
Lặp hai lần — "In my opinion" đã bao gồm ý "I think".
- ❌ In my opinion, I think the government should invest more in education.
- ✅ In my opinion, the government should invest more in education.
- ✅ I think the government should invest more in education.
- ❌ "I am absolutely convinced that eating vegetables every day makes you smarter." (quá mạnh cho claim không có evidence)
- ✅ "I tend to think that a balanced diet plays a role in cognitive function, though the exact relationship is complex."
Lỗi 4: Dùng "From my point of view" nhưng không đưa ra quan điểm khác biệt
"From my point of view" ngụ ý góc nhìn cá nhân — đừng dùng nó cho những điều ai cũng đồng ý:
- ❌ "From my point of view, clean water is important." (hiển nhiên — không cần phrase này)
- ✅ "From my point of view, the most overlooked solution to urban pollution is simply reducing private car use."
Lỗi 5: Dùng phrases trang trọng quá trong Part 1
- ❌ "I am firmly convinced that coffee is my preferred morning beverage." (Part 1 — quá formal)
- ✅ "Honestly, I can't really function without a coffee in the morning." (Part 1 — tự nhiên hơn)
Ứng dụng trong IELTS Speaking
Part 1 — Câu trả lời thân mật:
"Do you prefer the city or the countryside?"
❌ "I think the city is better. I think there are more things to do. I think it's more exciting."
✅ "For me, cities just have so much more to offer — the restaurants, the events, the career opportunities. Honestly, the countryside sounds peaceful, but I'd say I'd get bored quite quickly. That said, I think I'd appreciate it more as I get older."
Part 2 — Kết hợp trong monologue:
"Describe a person you admire."
"...She was remarkably resilient. In my view, the most impressive thing about her was not her talent but her persistence. Personally, I believe that kind of attitude is far more important than raw ability. As far as I'm concerned, she's been one of the most influential people in my life."
Part 3 — Tranh luận và phân tích:
"Do you think social media has had a positive or negative impact on society?"
"From my point of view, the picture is genuinely mixed. I would say social media has undeniably improved access to information and connected people across distances in remarkable ways. However, I am convinced that the design of most platforms is fundamentally at odds with mental wellbeing — they're engineered to maximise engagement, not happiness. It seems to me that regulation is going to be unavoidable at some point, though I tend to think most governments have been far too slow to act."

- I am convinced that / From my point of view, learning a second language is extremely beneficial.

Chọn phrase:
- I strongly believe that / I am convinced that
- Honestly / For me
- I tend to think that / It seems to me that
- In my opinion / From my point of view / As far as I'm concerned
Viết câu trả lời mẫu (gợi ý):
"Do you think people today are more stressed than people in the past? Why?"
"In my view, yes — modern life has become significantly more stressful in several ways, even if we have more material comfort than previous generations. From my perspective, the constant connectivity that smartphones create means that people are never truly 'off work' — there's always another message, another notification, another expectation. Personally, I find that quite exhausting. That said, I tend to think that stress in the past was just as real — people faced economic hardship, war, and illness in ways that are hard to imagine today. I would say the nature of stress has changed more than its intensity."
