Tại sao quan trọng

Trong IELTS Speaking Part 3, examiner thường đưa ra một quan điểm và hỏi "Do you agree?" hoặc "What do you think about...?"

  • Absolutely. That's a really important point.
  • Exactly. I couldn't agree more.
  • Definitely. / Certainly. I think that's right.
  • That's true. / That's a fair point.
  • I couldn't agree more — it's a serious issue.

Cấu trúc câu đầy đủ:

I completely agree that + [clause]
I strongly believe that + [clause]
I think [position] is absolutely right.
  • I completely agree that technology has changed the way people communicate.
  • I strongly believe that education is the most powerful tool for reducing inequality.
  • There's no doubt in my mind that environmental protection should be a top priority.

I agree with [part of the idea], but I think [reservation/exception].
[Positive point]. However, [limitation].
That's true to some extent, although [nuance].

Cấu trúc hay dùng:

"I agree to some extent..." - I agree to some extent that social media has a negative impact, but I also think it has significant benefits for communication.

"While I agree that..., I'm not sure that..." - While I agree that working from home increases flexibility, I'm not sure that it's suitable for all professions.

"That's partly true, but..." - That's partly true, but we also need to consider that not everyone has equal access to education.

"There is certainly some truth in that, although..." - There is certainly some truth in that, although I think the situation is more complex than it first appears.

"I think that's right up to a point, but..." - I think that's right up to a point, but the evidence doesn't fully support a blanket ban.

PHẦN 3: PHẢN ĐỐI LỊCH SỰ

Thừa nhận trước khi phản đối (acknowledge + counter):

I see your point, but...
I understand why some people might think that, but...
That's an interesting perspective, although I'd argue that...
  • I see your point, but I'd argue that the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks in most cases.
  • I understand why some people might think that, but the research actually suggests the opposite.
  • That's an interesting perspective, although I personally think we need stricter regulations to address this.
  • I take your point, but there are some important exceptions worth considering.

Phản đối nhẹ nhàng bằng cách đặt câu hỏi:

  • Is it really fair to say that...? I think many people would disagree.
  • Don't you think there are other factors at play here?
  • I'm not sure I'd go that far — I think a more moderate view would be more accurate.

I'm afraid I don't agree with that view.
I'd actually argue the opposite.
With respect, I think there's a more nuanced way to look at this.
  • I'm afraid I don't entirely agree — the evidence doesn't seem to support that conclusion.
  • I'd actually argue the opposite: increased screen time doesn't necessarily reduce creativity.
  • I respectfully disagree — there are strong reasons to believe this approach would be counterproductive.
  • I'm not convinced that this is the right way to tackle the problem.

Cấu trúc "On one hand... On the other hand...":

On one hand, [argument A]. On the other hand, [argument B].
  • On one hand, living in a big city offers more career opportunities and a higher standard of living. On the other hand, it often comes with higher stress levels and a higher cost of living.

Cấu trúc "Some people argue... However, others believe...":

Some people argue that [position A]. However, others believe that [position B].
Personally, I tend to think [your stance].
  • Some people argue that capital punishment acts as a deterrent to serious crime. However, others believe that it is fundamentally unjust and has no place in a civilised society. Personally, I tend to think the latter is more compelling.

Cấu trúc "It depends on...":

  • It really depends on the specific context — in some cases, the benefits are clear, but in others, the risks may outweigh them.
  • That very much depends on the individual and their circumstances.

PHẦN 6: CÁC CỤM TỪ NỐI Ý KHI ĐỒNG Ý / PHẢN ĐỐI

Chức năng Cụm từ
Thêm ý đồng tình Moreover, / Furthermore, / What's more, / In addition,
Đưa ra điểm trái chiều However, / Nevertheless, / That said, / Even so,
Nhượng bộ trước khi phản đối Admittedly, / Granted, / Of course,
Kết luận quan điểm Overall, / On balance, / All things considered,

Ví dụ dùng "Admittedly": - Admittedly, there are some advantages to this approach. However, I still think the disadvantages outweigh them.

Ví dụ dùng "That said": - Social media has undoubtedly changed communication for the worse in many ways. That said, it has also connected communities that would otherwise have no means of contact.

Ví dụ dùng "On balance": - On balance, I think the positives outweigh the negatives, provided that adequate safeguards are in place.

PHẦN 7: MẪU CÂU TRẢ LỜI HOÀN CHỈNH (Part 3)

Câu hỏi: "Do you think governments should ban fast food advertising aimed at children?"

Band 5 answer:

"Yes, I agree. It is bad for children."

Band 7+ answer:

"I agree to some extent. There's little doubt that excessive fast food advertising contributes to childhood obesity, which is a serious public health issue. That said, a complete ban might be considered an overreach of government authority. I'd argue that a more balanced approach — such as requiring companies to display nutritional information clearly and restricting advertising during children's programmes — would be more effective than an outright ban. On balance, I think regulation is necessary, but it should be targeted rather than absolute."

  1. "Yes, I agree technology is important."
  2. "No, I don't think young people are irresponsible."
  3. "I think living in cities is better than rural areas."

Gợi ý đáp án

  1. "I agree to some extent that technology plays a crucial role in modern life. However, it's important to recognise that over-reliance on technology can also have negative consequences, particularly for younger generations."

  2. "I'd actually argue against the idea that young people are irresponsible. In fact, many young people are deeply engaged with social issues and demonstrate strong leadership. That said, there are certainly areas where more guidance and experience would be beneficial."

  3. "While I agree that cities offer more opportunities in terms of employment and lifestyle, I'm not convinced that they are universally better. It really depends on the individual's priorities — some people thrive in urban environments while others find rural life more fulfilling."
