Tại sao quan trọng

Người Việt thường dùng "some" trong câu hỏi (❌ "Do you have some...?") hoặc dùng "any" trong câu khẳng định (❌ "I have any questions.") — cả hai đều sai trong hầu hết ngữ cảnh. Ngoài ra, các hợp chất như someone/anyone/no one thường bị nhầm khi viết (hai từ hay một từ?) và dùng trong ngữ cảnh sai.

PHẦN 1: SOME — Trong câu khẳng định

Dùng với danh từ số nhiều đếm được và danh từ không đếm được:

some + plural countable noun
some + uncountable noun

Số nhiều: - There are some students waiting outside. - I bought some books at the market. - She has some interesting ideas.

Không đếm được: - Can you give me some advice? - I need some time to think. - There is some water in the bottle.

Ngoại lệ: Some trong câu hỏi (mời mọc, đề nghị, kỳ vọng câu trả lời "yes")

Khi mời mọc hoặc đề nghị, dùng "some" dù đó là câu hỏi:

  • Would you like some coffee? (mời — kỳ vọng "yes")
  • Can I have some water, please? (yêu cầu lịch sự)
  • Could you lend me some money? (kỳ vọng đồng ý)

So sánh: - "Do you have any milk?" (hỏi thật — không biết có không) - "Would you like some milk?" (mời — giả định có)

PHẦN 2: ANY — Trong câu phủ định và câu hỏi

Câu phủ định

not + any = không có (số lượng)
  • I don't have any money. (Tôi không có tiền.)
  • She didn't buy any vegetables. (Cô ấy không mua rau.)
  • There isn't any sugar left. (Không còn đường nữa.)
  • We don't need any help. (Chúng tôi không cần giúp đỡ.)

Câu hỏi thật (không biết câu trả lời)

Do/Did/Is/Are/Can... + any + noun?
  • Do you have any questions?
  • Is there any milk in the fridge?
  • Did she bring any documents?
  • Have you made any progress?

Ngoại lệ: Any trong câu khẳng định — nghĩa "bất kỳ"

Khi "any" có nghĩa "bất kỳ ... nào" (không giới hạn, tự do lựa chọn), dùng trong câu khẳng định:

any + noun = bất kỳ [noun] nào (= whichever, it doesn't matter which)
  • You can sit at any table you like. (bất kỳ bàn nào)
  • Choose any colour from the menu. (bất kỳ màu nào)
  • Any student who needs help should contact the teacher. (bất kỳ học sinh nào)
  • She can speak any language in this group fluently. (bất kỳ ngôn ngữ nào)

PHẦN 3: NO — Phủ định dứt khoát

"No" trước danh từ = "not any" nhưng mạnh hơn, dùng với động từ khẳng định:

no + noun (verb is positive) = not any + noun (verb is negative)
"no" "not any"
I have no time. I don't have any time.
There is no water. There isn't any water.
She made no mistakes. She didn't make any mistakes.
We have no choice. We don't have any choice.

Lưu ý quan trọng: "No" đứng trước danh từ — không đứng sau động từ một mình. ❌ "I have not no money." ✅ "I have no money."

Ví dụ thêm: - There is no evidence to support this claim. - No students passed the test. (không một học sinh nào) - I had no idea what was happening. - She offered no explanation for her absence.

PHẦN 4: HỢP CHẤT — Some-, Any-, No-

Các hợp chất được tạo bằng cách ghép some/any/no với -one/-body/-thing/-where.

Người (person)

Someone/Somebody Anyone/Anybody No one/Nobody
Someone called you. Did anyone call? No one called.
I met somebody interesting. Is anybody here? Nobody was home.

Viết đúng: - someone → một từ - anyone → một từ - no one → hai từ (khác với nobody — một từ) - nobody → một từ

Vật (thing)

There's something wrong. Is there anything I can do? Nothing happened.

Ngoại lệ với "something" trong câu hỏi: - "Would you like something to drink?" (mời mọc) - "Can I get you something?" (kỳ vọng "yes")

Nơi chốn (place)

Somewhere Anywhere Nowhere
She went somewhere quiet. Have you been anywhere nice recently? He had nowhere to go.
I left my keys somewhere. Is there anywhere to park? There is nowhere left to hide.

Lưu ý ngữ pháp với nothing/nobody/no one:

Khi chủ ngữ là nothing, nobody, no one — dùng động từ số ít và không dùng thêm "not":

  • Nothing is wrong. (không cần "not")
  • Nobody knows the answer.
  • No one has called today.
  • ❌ "Nobody doesn't know." → ✅ "Nobody knows."

Lỗi thường gặp

Lỗi 1: Dùng "some" trong câu hỏi thật

  • ❌ "Do you have some problems with the assignment?"
  • ✅ "Do you have any problems with the assignment?"

(Trừ khi bạn đang mời: "Would you like some help with that?")

Lỗi 2: Dùng "any" trong câu khẳng định (không có nghĩa "bất kỳ")

  • ❌ "I have any questions for you."
  • ✅ "I have some questions for you."

Lỗi 3: Double negative với "no"

  • ❌ "I don't have no time."
  • ✅ "I have no time." hoặc "I don't have any time."

Lỗi 4: "No one" viết sai thành "noone"

  • ❌ "Noone told me about the meeting."
  • ✅ "No one told me about the meeting."
  • ✅ "Nobody told me about the meeting."

Lỗi 5: Động từ số nhiều với "nothing" / "nobody"

  • ❌ "Nothing are wrong."
  • ✅ "Nothing is wrong."
  • ❌ "Nobody have seen it."
  • ✅ "Nobody has seen it."

Lỗi 6: Dùng "no" như trạng từ trước tính từ

  • ❌ "She is no happy about this."
  • ✅ "She is not happy about this." (Dùng "no" chỉ trước danh từ, không trước tính từ đứng một mình)

Ứng dụng trong IELTS

Speaking Part 1 — câu trả lời tự nhiên:

  • "I don't have any particular hobbies, but I enjoy reading."
  • "Someone in my family is a teacher, which probably influenced me."
  • "There are some things I'd like to change about my daily routine."
  • "I can't think of anywhere I'd rather live than my hometown."

Speaking Part 2 — mô tả:

  • "There was something special about the atmosphere — I can't quite explain it."
  • "I didn't have any experience with this kind of activity before."
  • "Nobody in the group had met before, so we were all strangers."

Writing Task 2 — lập luận:

  • "Some governments have introduced policies to address this issue."
  • "There is no evidence to suggest that this approach is effective."
  • "Anyone who has experienced poverty first-hand will understand the urgency of this issue."
  • "Nothing short of systemic change will resolve this problem."

Tóm tắt nhanh

SOME:
  → Câu khẳng định: I have some time.

ANY:
